Vacant Space goes large

Published: 20 July 2017

On Thursday, we visited an industrial unit Peterborough that is 18,000 sq ft of space. Thanks to our friends Metal Peterborough who circulated a call out we are talking with Mask Theatre  about making the space into a creative hub for local artists and performance groups.

We are also collaborating with Rotherham ROAR studios to develop an event programme in a 40,000 sq ft warehouse. And this week we’ve been offered two more spaces in the South West, one 50,000 sq ft and the other 250,000 sq ft.

This size of these spaces got us thinking. If any of these were converted into a gallery, it would be the largest gallery outside of London. Could we really set-up the largest pop-up gallery in the UK and the largest gallery space outside London? Easier said than done - or is it?

What do you think? Want to try? Help, ideas and collaborations welcome.
