Robin Everett is a visual artist based in Glasgow, Scotland. His practice revolves around the intimate tripartite relationship between artist, material, and environment. With research based in both ancient and ongoing traditional elements he explores the roots of our connection to material and mark. Employing pigments native to specific locales as the sole component in a single painting or drawing he aims to utilize this value of material distinction to serve as a contextual anchor, allowing the viewer to roam the physicality of the paint, challenging the gestalt nature of the painted image. His aim is to invite the viewer into the construction of the work, referencing the performative act of creating, revealing material and memory as cohabiters of the object. Each specific source details a connection between person, object, and place.
