This project is a collaborative work involving four artists - Ray Kiang, Anna Mo, Yu Yi Chang, Yi-Chang Chen, and myself.
The work was first exhibited at the Songshan Cultural Creative Park, Taipei, and then at a venue in a public park in Wanhua, Taipei.
The work comprises a circular platform 550cm in diameter, with a central motor driving an arm attached to a 120cm diameter platform on which are a selction of growing plants. These are under a perspex dome, and illuminated by small LED bulbs. The motor moves the dome into a closed tunnel, and after a period moves the dome for one rotation of the main platform. At the edge of the main platform are 12 flashing red lights with switches. The switches give the illusion that it is possible to control the rotation of the motor.
The work deals with both the relation of humanity to nature, and is a critique of simplistic views of 'interactivity'.
