Drawing based on photographs taken down lead mine tunnels in Cwystwth and the Rheidol valley.

I set about drawing Tunnel in 2019, in a state of deep depression about the causes and effects of Brexit, as yet blissfully unaware of the approaching pandemic. Several months and innumerable trips up and down the ladder later, it was finally completed a few weeks after the first lockdown was imposed in Wales in March 2020, by which time it had become very clear that the work could be read on many levels, and a metaphor, perhaps, for these troubling times.
