Textile essays (Ensayos textiles), 2020 by Eliana Sanchez-Aldana

Eliana Sanchez-Aldana

Anni Albers invites us to learn weaving structures in depth and find ways to alter them in her book On Weaving. When talking about the warp, she describes it as a myriad of threads in tension that remains parallel to be crossed perpendicularly by another group of threads - the weft.
These pieces are movement essays in textile language. They bring material discussions about weaving arrangements. They discuss the "must be" of weaving as part of my material negotiations with a horizontal handloom.
