Other Worlds: Ariadne by Rachel Gibson

Rachel Gibson

'Other Worlds' is a body of work where imagery shifts between the subatomic and the planetary universe, balancing potent elements and opposing forces. Developed in hand drawn animation, photography, text and Artists books as well as drawing, these pieces reflect each other, existing as imaginary echoes of the struggle between chance and determination. Quantum and Astro Physics play their part in an attempt to visualise the connectivity between these long inhabited places of the mind.

Incubate I, 2017 by Sarah Hitchens

Sarah Hitchens

One in a series of large pod-like forms torn from large sheets of black clay and encrusted in thick porcelain slip and volcanic glaze.
Incubate I is part of an ongoing exploration into the texture and shape of our lives, reflecting the physical wear, the inner growth and the unpredictable nature of our existence. Increasingly enclosed and secretive in form, the Incubates are suggestive of space that is pregnant with possibility.

This piece will be exhibited at the National Centre for Craft & Design in Lincolnshire from 17th March – 29th April.
