HOME-ing: a live art odyssey on foot from London to Wales, 2021

Harriet Hill

HOME-ing is a word odyssey. It is an ambitious new project for which I am delighted to say I have received an Arts Council, National Lottery Project Grant.

I am creating a new word costume - a whole word-in-one this time, that I plan to walk from my home in London to my family home in Radnorshire. The costume will say “HOME” and I will talk to people I meet along the way about “home” and what it means to them. Working with a videographer and sound designer, a film of this journey will be made.

Setting off on 22nd June, this is both a personal journey and an opportunity to talk to people from both urban and rural communities that I pass through along the way. It is an idea I have had for a few years but now as we come out of the COVID lockdowns (hopefully), seems like the right time to do it. It will be interesting to see how people’s relationship with “home” may have changed over the past 18 months.

The HOME-ing costume will contain everything I need for the journey: a pull-out tent, spare clothes, camp stove etc and when not being walked, will be a curious, freestanding, functional sculpture. I am having stop off days, being hosted at various Arts spaces: the Feminist Library in Peckham, HOME Slough, OVADA in Oxford, About Face Theatre Co. in Leominster and the Sidney Nolan Trust in Presteigne.

The costume and film are going to Helsinki in September as part of a group exhibition with the Mobile Feminist Library and other artists from UK and Finland.

Digital Natives, 2020

Kristy Campbell

'Semi-Published' is the lovechild of an artist-writer collaboration. It portrays a process of narrative evolving through image and visa versa. This collection of works is at first a set of ambiguous and inspired titles laid out as book covers, to be followed by a second collection of works formed solely through collaborative effort. 'Semi-Published' establishes a pre-platform for contemporary writers; it offers their writing a stage, accompanied by visuals, to aid the journey of their publication.

Business Cards, 2018

Guy Bigland

Various phrases that have become commonplace in business, particularly retail.

Released from their familiar roles in marketing, customer services and public relations, the texts here seek new meanings perhaps as instruments of critique, existential enquiry, and humour.
