Destructura X Axis Open Call

We have extended the deadline for our artist members and Praxis alumni to apply for this exciting international opportunity, until midnight on Thursday 28th April! We are delighted to partner with Destructura, a two-year, cross-border collaborative project which - through research, discourse and creative work - will unearth and challenge the dominant paradigms and structures of European art worlds. We are sponsoring two places, including the participation fee and travel reimbursement to the forum in Tallinn, Estonia in July, which is being held under the patronage of the European Parliament. The project has received ERASMUS+ funding to support young artists across Europe, our members and Praxis alumni (ages 21-30) are eligible to apply for this open call.

What is De Structura?

De Structura will gather 150 young aspiring professionals in the fields of visual and performing arts. They will join the project from across the European continent to communicate with experts and their peers in order to realise 20 cross-border projects and shine a light on the institutional politics of art.

In partnership with Destructura, we are striving to give young Europeans in the arts the tools to be successful in their pursuit of a meaningful career and in bringing innovation to the art world.

Why are we doing this?

Regrettably, an education - formal or informal - in the arts does not always prepare young people to successfully navigate the structures governing their field of interest. This discourages the new generation of artists from pursuing a meaningful career after a few unsuccessful attempts to realise their projects.

De Structura aims to bridge that gap. The project will provide a platform for young aspiring artists and art professionals to learn the skills needed to thrive in the industry, from collaboration and networking, to grant writing and mounting the exhibition, the project will encompass all aspects of producing, funding and presenting an artistic project. In addition to the skills you will learn through the process, you will meet many other young artists and art professionals, as well as established experts in the art field across Europe.

The forum in Tallinn will give you an opportunity to meet and network with young creative professionals from across Europe, to work together on project proposals and funding applications to deliver exciting, cross-border creative projects. Destructura has partnered with organisations across Europe, including Axis, in order to provide exhibition space, digital platforms and promotion and other resources to support the outcomes of your group projects. This is an exciting opportunity for young artists, not to miss!

Who can apply and how?

We are looking for young (ages 21-30) artists, art professionals, designers and culture workers operating within the fields of visual and performing arts, who have at least some existing experience in arts/culture and a passion for improving Europe’s art sector. You are welcome to apply until midnight on Thursday 28th April, by emailing us your CV (including portfolio links) and a motivation letter (Maximum 1 side A4), to: [email protected]

Deadline extended! Midnight, 28 April 2022
