Ready, steady, roll

One of the things I’ve been attempting in recent film projects is to forego the use of a tripod and use hand-held camera work. The camera I’m using is a Canon EOS 550D stills camera with Full HD film mode so it’s much lighter than a conventional semi-pro video camera.

Many DSLR cameras now offer full HD video recording (1080p). These cameras are pushing the boundaries of what videographers can achieve with their film projects; the different lens options allowing users to obtain more cinematic effects with framing and shallow depth of field.
